Saudi Sipchem awards $169 million PDH-PP expansion project

Sahara International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem), Saudi Arabia, announces the award of engineering, procurement and construction contracts for the expansion of Al Waha’s propylene and polypropylene plants (a subsidiary of Sipchem).

The contract value is USD 169 million.

The project has been awarded to SGC E&C Co., Ltd. and SGC ARABIA COMPANY LIMITED.

The scope of the contract includes engineering, procurement and construction contracts for the efficiency improvement and expansion of the PDH-PP plants, adding 72,000 metric tons of propylene and 150,000 metric tons of polypropylene production capacity. The total production capacity after the expansion will be approximately 537,000 tons of propylene and 600,000 tons of polypropylene.

The contract period is 28 months.

The company stated that this project reflects Sipchem’s continuous efforts to increase its production capacity and efficiency. The increased polypropylene production will contribute significantly to many industries, including automotive, fiber and food packaging films. This expansion will strengthen the company’s market position and support its growth strategy. Any material development related to this project will be announced in accordance with applicable regulations and guidance.
