Sanya International to Build 2.0 Mta Al Amir Cement Plant Near Najaf, Iraq

Sanya International is developing the Al Amir cement plant with a production capacity of 2.0 million tonnes per annum (Mta) near Najaf City in southern Iraq. The general contractor for the project is Sinoma Suzhou, a subsidiary of China National Building Material Group (CNBM).

As part of the project, Gebr. Pfeiffer has been awarded the contract to supply an MVR 5000 R-4 vertical grinding mill. The high-capacity mill will process 500 tonnes per hour of cement raw material, grinding it to a fineness of 10% R on 0.090 mm.

The mill will handle feed material with an initial moisture content of approximately 12%, drying it in-process to a residual moisture level of less than 0.5%. The grinding unit will be powered by a 4,400 kW mill drive.

Commissioning of the MVR mill is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
