Perenco’s new offshore platform in Congo marks a $200 million investment designed to significantly boost the country’s oil production by 2026.
Perenco is making a significant move to strengthen its presence in Congo-Brazzaville’s oil and gas sector with a major $200 million investment in the construction of a new offshore platform, Kombi 2. This development is critical as the country aims to dramatically increase its oil production by 2030 to meet growing energy demands and economic goals.
The Kombi 2 platform is currently being built at the Nieuwdorp shipyard in the Netherlands by Dixstone, a Perenco sister company with expertise in offshore infrastructure. Once completed, the platform will operate within the Kombi-Likalala-Libondo II (KLL II) permit area, which holds significant untapped hydrocarbon potential.
This project is a key part of Perenco’s long-term strategy to support Congo-Brazzaville’s ambitions for sustainable energy growth and production expansion. The platform is planned to set sail from Europe in October 2025 and is expected to begin full operations by early 2026.
By investing in advanced offshore technology and infrastructure like Kombi 2, Perenco is not only enhancing its production capabilities but also playing a vital role in driving the country’s economic development and energy independence. As Congo-Brazzaville seeks to transform policy targets into real production milestones, projects such as this will be instrumental in unlocking new reserves and boosting export revenues.
Perenco’s commitment to responsible and efficient resource development underscores its role as a key player in the African energy landscape, supporting local communities and contributing to regional energy security.
