The Himachal Pradesh government signed a Memorandum of Commitment (MoC) with Chandigarh-based Spray Engineering Devices Ltd. to establish India’s first integrated manufacturing facility for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Green Hydrogen, and 2G Ethanol in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial area, Solan district. The project, valued at ₹1,400 crore, was formalized on March 5.
According to the official statement, the facility will generate employment opportunities for 1,000 youth. In its initial phase, the project will require 30 MW of green hydrogen, with demand expected to rise to 50 MW in the future.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reiterated the state government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh a green energy leader by March 2026. He also highlighted that a 1 MW Green Hydrogen plant is being developed in collaboration with Oil India Ltd. at Nalagarh, Solan district.
The MoC was signed by Yunus, Director of Industries, on behalf of the state government, and Vivek Verma, Managing Director of Spray Engineering Devices Ltd. The signing event was attended by Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, MLA Sanjay Awasthy, advisors, and other officials.
The Chief Minister urged the company to complete the project within one year to accelerate the state’s transition toward sustainable energy and industrial development.
