DSIC Begins Construction of Wah Kwong’s 175,000 CBM LNG Carrier

A steel-cutting ceremony was held at DSIC’s shipyard on March 6, 2025, Wah Kwong announced on social media, calling it a significant step forward in its commitment to energy transition alongside its partners.

The vessel, designated G175K-13, is reportedly the second in a series of four 175,000 cbm LNG carriers being built under the joint venture partnership between China Gas, Wah Kwong, and CSSC.

Upon completion, the vessel will operate under a 20-year charter with China Gas and will be the second addition to Wah Kwong’s dual-fuel fleet.

The four LNG carriers are designed with the Mark III Flex cargo containment system developed by GTT and feature four cargo tanks. Each vessel is powered by two WinGD LNG dual-fuel low-speed main engines, integrated with the iCER system to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

Additional design features include an optimized twin-stern line, high-efficiency propellers, rudders with a bulbous bow, and four dual-fuel generators to accommodate power load demands across various operational scenarios.
