VINCI Wins €92.4M Contract to Enhance Uganda’s Water Supply Network

Sogea-Satom, a subsidiary of VINCI Construction, has secured a contract from the Ugandan National Water Sewerage Corporation to renovate, restructure, and expand the water supply network in the Kampala metropolitan area. The project also includes increasing the capacity of the Katosi water treatment plant.

Scheduled for completion in August 2027, the project will employ up to 500 workers. The scope of work includes installing 70 km of cast iron pipes, constructing large reinforced concrete reservoirs, building two new pumping stations, and refurbishing two existing ones. Given the densely populated urban setting, the work will involve excavating trenches up to 3 meters deep and rerouting certain networks.

Financed by the French development agency AFD, the €92.4 million project aims to improve access to treated water for 1.5 million residents in the region.

Active in Uganda since 1990, Sogea-Satom has constructed drinking water treatment plants in Ggaba, Katosi, and Karuma. The company is currently working on the Kagera plant and will leverage VINCI Group’s expertise in hydraulic infrastructure to further expand access to clean drinking water.
