The ceremony was attended by Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, Vice Minister for Mining Affairs, Eng. Khalid Al-Mudaifer, and various public and private sector officials.
A significant highlight of the event was the commencement of construction on Ma’aden’s Phosphate 3 project, with investments estimated at SAR 28 billion. Supported by the Shareek Program, this project aims to increase Saudi Arabia’s phosphate production capacity to 9 million tons annually, enhancing the industrial supply chain and creating numerous investment and employment opportunities.
The governor emphasized that these initiatives align with the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives of developing the mining sector and boosting its contribution to the national economy. He noted that Wa’ad Al Shamal has evolved into a model of integrated industrial cities, combining major industries, logistics services, and modern residential communities, thereby attracting both local and international investors.
Additionally, the event saw the inauguration of several industrial, logistical, and service projects led by the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), with investments exceeding SAR 550 million. These projects include the development of industrial infrastructure over 4.3 million square meters, the construction of 32 ready-built units comprising 20 factories and 12 support units totaling 45,000 square meters, the establishment of a 132kV power substation with a 200MVA capacity and overhead transmission lines, and the building of a 7-kilometer international road link bridge. These initiatives aim to improve logistics services, enhance energy reliability, and foster an attractive investment environment, particularly for industries related to phosphate production.
Furthermore, Prince Faisal inaugurated the expansion of Ma’aden’s residential complex in Wa’ad Al Shamal. The expansion includes three new buildings, each containing 32 residential units, totaling 96 units, to accommodate the growing workforce in the region.
