Jordan and Kazakhstan Sign Agreement for Uranium Exploration and Development

Jordan and Kazakhstan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on uranium exploration, potentially paving the way for joint production ventures.

The agreement was formalized in Amman on Wednesday between the Jordanian Uranium Mining Company (JUMCO) and Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom, the world’s largest uranium producer.

JUMCO Director General Mohammad Al Shunnaq emphasized that the partnership aims to develop joint uranium mining projects in Jordan, leveraging Kazakhstan’s expertise in uranium extraction and processing.

Kazatomprom CEO Meirzhan Yussupov hailed the MoU as a “crucial step” in fostering cooperation in nuclear energy and other strategic sectors.

“The agreement unlocks new opportunities for collaboration between Jordan and Kazakhstan, strengthening our partnership across multiple industries,” Yussupov said.
