Trombudo Central is set to become home to Santa Catarina’s first natural gas-fired thermoelectric plant, marking a significant milestone in the state’s energy sector. With an investment of R$13.2 million, the Trombudo Central Thermoelectric Unit (UTE) will consume an estimated 70,000 m³ of natural gas per day, contributing to both the energy supply and economic development of the region.
The project is part of SCGÁS’ expansion plan, which includes a total investment of R$117 million in Santa Catarina’s natural gas infrastructure by 2025. This initiative aims to strengthen the fuel distribution network, ensuring a more efficient and sustainable energy supply.
Beyond the Trombudo Central plant, SCGÁS is also investing in expanding the gas network across multiple municipalities, including the development of new urban networks and extending services to industries and residential areas. This expansion is expected to boost the local economy, attract new businesses, and enhance regional energy infrastructure.
With this landmark thermoelectric plant, Trombudo Central is positioning itself as a leader in natural gas-based energy solutions, driving innovation and economic opportunities for the municipality and the entire Alto Vale do Itajaí region.
