MHI Wins EPC Contract for Zeon’s New COP Plant in Japan

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has secured the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for Zeon Corporation’s new Cyclo Olefin Polymer (COP) production plant in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The facility is scheduled for completion in the first half of fiscal 2028.

Drawing on its extensive chemical plant expertise, MHI will handle process design, major equipment procurement, and installation of plant machinery. Fujita Corporation will oversee architectural and civil engineering works.

Zeon selected MHI’s proposal based on the company’s deep technical knowledge and proven capabilities in high-performance chemical facilities.

The project reinforces MHI’s strategic focus on advanced chemical production infrastructure, complementing its established work in methanol, ammonia, and other industrial plants. MHI continues to advance technologies that support global industry growth and contribute to a more sustainable society.
