Kormotech, a family-owned global pet food producer with Ukrainian origins and a top-50 player in the industry, has begun constructing its second production facility in Kėdainiai, Lithuania. With a €60 million (US$62 million) investment, the company is reinforcing its position in both the European and global markets. Currently, Kormotech products are available in 44 countries.
Expanding Capacity and Job Creation
The new plant, located in the Kėdainiai Free Economic Zone, will significantly boost Lithuania’s wet food production capacity, increasing output from 22,000 to 60,000 tons per year. This expansion is expected to create 200 new jobs, adding to the 175 employees currently working at Kormotech’s existing Lithuanian facility, which has been operational since 2020.
Kormotech currently operates three production facilities—two in Ukraine and one in Lithuania. The new plant will be a 19,500-square-meter (209,878-square-foot) complex housing production, storage, and administrative units. The first of four production lines is set to go live this year. Once fully operational, the Kėdainiai facility will account for 61% of the company’s total wet food production, manufacturing pet food for brands such as Optimeal, Club 4 Paws, My Love, and Delickcious.
Strategic Expansion for Global Growth
“We have entered a crucial stage in our expansion across Europe and beyond,” said Chairman and Co-owner Rostyslav Vovk at the groundbreaking ceremony. “Kormotech’s vision for 2028 is global growth, and expanding production in Lithuania is a key milestone in that journey.”
The plant’s location within the Kėdainiai Free Economic Zone ensures efficient distribution via road and sea transport, strengthening the company’s supply chain. “Our main focus is to supply partners with high-quality products as quickly as possible and at competitive prices,” added Yuriy Bykoriz, Managing Director for Central and Eastern Europe at Kormotech. “The new facility in Lithuania further strengthens our collaborations with retailers and distributors.”
Government Support and Future Ambitions
Backed by favorable economic conditions and support from the Lithuanian government, this expansion aligns with Kormotech’s goal of ranking among the top 30 pet food manufacturers worldwide. The company is targeting €500 million (US$516 million) in revenue by 2028.
Reflecting on the project’s regional impact, Minister of Economy and Innovation Lukas Savickas commented, “Kormotech’s expansion is excellent news not only for the company but also for the region and the entire country. I’m glad we can contribute to this success story.”
With this investment, Kormotech is not only enhancing its production capabilities but also solidifying Lithuania’s role as a key hub in the global pet food industry.
