The KHD Group has been contracted to conduct a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study for the installation of an Oxyfuel kiln at Heidelberg Materials’ Geseke cement plant in Germany. This initiative is a critical component of the GeZero CCS project, which aims to capture over 0.7 million tons of CO2 annually.
Supported by the EU Innovation Fund, the captured CO2 will undergo on-site purification and liquefaction before being transported to the North Sea for permanent geological storage. The planning phase is expected to conclude by the end of 2025, with construction slated to commence in 2026.
