Hengli Heavy Industries Secures $1.1–$1.6B Order for 12 Vessels

Hengli Heavy Industries has received an order from Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) for 12 newbuild vessels, in a contract valued at $1.1–$1.6 billion. The ships are scheduled for delivery from the second half of 2027 through 2028, enabling EPS to expand its fleet.

Under the contract, Hengli will construct:

  • Six very large crude carriers (VLCCs), ~306,000 DWT each

  • Two LNG dual-fuel Suezmax tankers, 157,000 DWT each

  • Four container ships, 6,000 TEU capacity

The vessels are expected to feature scrubber technology and LNG dual-fuel capability, aligning with the International Maritime Organization’s decarbonization targets and global green shipping initiatives.

Hengli had previously secured an order for ten 24,000 TEU container ships from MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company last year, reinforcing its position in the international shipbuilding market.
