Golden Deeps Ltd (ASX: GED) has commenced a new diamond drilling program at the Nosib copper-silver deposit, located within its Otavi Mountain Land (OML) tenements in northern Namibia.
The program aims to test potential extensions of the deposit, focusing on areas to the west and at depth.
Previous drilling at Nosib identified a near-surface zone of copper-vanadium-lead-silver oxide mineralization, which formed the basis of the maiden mineral resource announced in June 2024.
At greater depths, the oxide mineralization transitions into a copper-silver stratabound sulphide deposit, hosted within Nosib Formation clastic sediments. This setting contrasts with the predominantly carbonate-hosted deposits in the region, such as Tsumeb.
Results from earlier drilling include an intersection of 44.22m at 0.50% copper and 3.2 g/t silver from 34.8m depth, with a high-grade semi-massive sulphide zone of 0.49m grading 10.3% copper and 56.9 g/t silver. These findings suggest the copper-silver sulphide zone is thickening and increasing in grade to the west and at depth.
The current drilling campaign will include up to three diamond drill holes, totaling approximately 330 meters, designed to assess the continuity of the sulphide zone. The first hole, now underway, targets an area down-dip of previous drilling. Step-out holes at 20-meter intervals will evaluate further extensions of the deposit westward.
Golden Deeps is focused on exploring critical metals across two world-class regions: the Lachlan Fold Belt copper-gold province in New South Wales, Australia, and the Otavi Mountain Land copper-lead-zinc-silver-vanadium district in Namibia.
In Namibia, the company is actively advancing multiple high-grade deposits, including the Abenab vanadium-lead-zinc project, the Nosib copper-silver-vanadium deposit, and the Khusib Springs silver-copper deposit. Both the Nosib and Khusib Springs sulphide deposits remain open at depth and to the west.
