Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, has explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation and investment in the petrochemical and mining industries with India, according to an official statement.
He highlighted Egypt’s efforts to boost domestic fertilizer production by establishing new factories to enhance food security, noting that this opens avenues for trade with India.
Badawi held discussions with India’s Minister of Health, Chemicals, and Fertilizers, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, and Indian Ambassador to Cairo Suresh Reddy during the third edition of the Global Congress on Population, Health, and Human Development (PHDC).
On the sidelines of the event, the petroleum minister emphasized the potential for companies to invest across all petroleum and mining sectors, from exploration and production to exports targeting Indian, European, and African markets.
Minister Nadda affirmed India’s interest in enhancing cooperation with Egypt, particularly in petrochemicals and phosphate fertilizers, aligned with India’s focus on food security. He also noted that Indian companies are actively seeking collaboration with the Egyptian petroleum sector.
