BMW Industries to Establish ₹803.47 Crore Steel Plant in Jharkhand

BMW Industries Ltd is set to expand its operations with a new production facility in Bokaro, Jharkhand, aimed at enhancing downstream steel processing and meeting the growing market demand. The ₹803.47 crore project will be financed through a mix of internal accruals and debt.

Project Overview

The upcoming downstream steel complex will have an annual production capacity of:

  • 300,000 TPA of cold-rolled full hard coil/sheet
  • 540,000 TPA of galvanized coil/sheet
  • 2,000 TPA of color-coated coils/sheets

The company already owns the necessary industrial land for this greenfield project, which will be developed in phases over two years. The first phase is expected to commence commercial operations in FY26.

Strategic Advantages

BMW Industries highlighted that the plant’s proximity to Haldia/Kolkata port (approximately 300 km away) will facilitate easier access to global markets. Additionally, its closeness to raw material sources will ensure a stable and efficient supply chain.

The company has received the necessary approval from the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, clearing the way for project execution.
