Baker Hughes Secures Major Role in Argent LNG Project

Argent LNG has selected Baker Hughes as the technology provider for its planned liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project, which is expected to reach a total production capacity of 24 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).

Announcing the deal on Monday, Baker Hughes described the contract as a “significant” milestone, highlighting its role in supplying key liquefaction solutions. The agreement includes the deployment of its NMBL modular LNG plant, powered by the LM9000 gas turbine, ensuring scalable and reliable production. These modular units will be prefabricated and rigorously tested at Baker Hughes’ facilities before installation.

The partnership also includes a multi-year service agreement, featuring iCenter digital solutions powered by Cordant, to enhance terminal operations and efficiency.

Argent LNG is advancing plans for a large-scale LNG export facility in Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Phase 1 construction is expected to begin in 2026, with commercial operations targeted for 2030. Meanwhile, Phase 2—aimed at expanding production capacity—is progressing through key regulatory and financial milestones, including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approvals, gas supply agreements, and final investment decision (FID) preparations.

Baker Hughes emphasized that its extensive experience in LNG technology will help streamline project execution, optimize costs, and enhance efficiency, ultimately providing greater financial certainty for Argent LNG.

“This collaboration with Argent LNG reflects our commitment to delivering cutting-edge LNG solutions,” said Lorenzo Simonelli, CEO of Baker Hughes. “As global energy demand rises, we remain focused on providing innovative technologies to support the LNG sector, ensuring a stable and affordable energy supply worldwide.”

Argent LNG CEO Jonathan Bass noted that Baker Hughes was chosen for its industry-leading technology, strong LNG market presence, and commitment to innovation—all of which align with the company’s vision of delivering transformative energy solutions.

“This partnership underscores Argent LNG’s dedication to technical excellence, cost efficiency, and energy security. Additionally, it enhances the project’s bankability by leveraging Baker Hughes’ proven expertise and leadership in the LNG industry,” said Bass.

Baker Hughes expects further orders related to this agreement as the Argent LNG project advances toward its final investment decision.
