Wison New Energies has hailed its latest collaboration with Petronas as a major milestone, reaffirming the Chinese company’s technical strength in FLNG and adding fresh momentum to the global energy transition.
The planned FLNG facility, to be located approximately 120 km off the coast of Suriname, will tap into the Sloanea Gas Field. It will process feed gas from the subsea production system to produce LNG and condensate for both domestic use and international export.
“Wison New Energies secured the contract amid fierce competition, leveraging its extensive experience in FLNG projects, comprehensive in-house technical capabilities—from conceptual design through to EPCIC execution—and efficient, pre-engineered FLNG design solutions tailored to client requirements,” the company said.
The Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) could pave the way for a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase, supporting Suriname’s drive toward energy independence and positioning it as a key offshore gas development hub. A successful project could also strengthen global clean energy supply chains by adding new resource capacity.
