Wessex Water has announced its capital delivery partners for the upcoming £3.7 billion AMP8 investment program, which will run from 2025 to 2030, according to a report by New Civil Engineer. The framework agreements, which could be extended for up to 11 years, will facilitate major infrastructure projects across Wessex Water’s service areas, including Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, and parts of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, and Hampshire.
The selected design and build contractors are Mott MacDonald Bentley, Kier Integrated Services, Galliford Try Construction, and Morgan Sindall Construction and Infrastructure.
Design consultancy services will be provided by Aecom, AtkinsRéalis UK, Stantec UK, Mott MacDonald, Pell Frischmann Consultants, Sweco UK, and GHD.
Mechanical and electrical works will be handled by Kier Integrated Services, Galliford Try Construction, Bridges (Electrical Engineers), Trant Engineering, and OCU Utility Services.
Additionally, civil contractors will include Envolve Infrastructure, Mott MacDonald Bentley, Kier Integrated Services, and Knights Brown Construction.
These framework agreements aim to foster collaboration, flexibility, and agility, which are essential as the UK water industry embarks on a nationwide £88 billion investment initiative. Wessex Water’s AMP8 projects will not only focus on traditional infrastructure upgrades but will also incorporate innovative, nature-based solutions, with a goal to deliver 36 such projects to manage storm overflows.
Wessex Water manages a vast network of assets, including 35,000 km of sewers, 12,000 km of water mains, 231 water sources and treatment facilities, and 400 water recycling centers. The company’s engineering and delivery director emphasized that these new partnerships will open up broader opportunities for training, development, apprenticeships, and secondments, supporting a program more than twice the size of their AMP7 commitments.
