Alongside state and local leaders, UBE C1 Chemicals America Inc. has officially broken ground on a $500 million investment in Jefferson Parish, marking a significant milestone in domestic chemical manufacturing. Located within the Cornerstone Energy Park, this facility will be the first in the U.S. to produce dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC)—key materials essential for electric and hybrid vehicles, cell phones, tablets, laptops, and solar panels. This project aims to strengthen domestic supply chains and reduce reliance on imports from China and other countries.
The new facility is expected to generate 50-60 full-time skilled jobs in the Waggaman community, along with over 400 temporary construction jobs during its development phase.
With a legacy spanning more than 120 years, UBE Corporation has been a trusted global supplier and has over 30 years of expertise in safe DMC manufacturing. This new facility will uphold the company’s commitment to safety and innovation, integrating advanced operational technologies with a safety-first approach to ensure efficiency and environmental responsibility.
