Turkey’s Transka Tankers, part of Akbasoglu Holdings, is set to expand its fleet with MR1 newbuilds from China. The company has signed a contract with Wuhu Shipyard for four 40,800 dwt product carriers, scheduled for delivery in 2027.
The new vessels, designed by SDARI, will be 180 meters long and meet the EEDI Phase 3 requirements. The contract price has not been disclosed.
Transka’s current fleet includes over 10 ships, comprising small chemical tankers and MR1s, most of which were acquired from the secondhand market. The latest acquisition was recorded in March this year.
