Thyssenkrupp Nucera Electrolysis Project Moves Ahead with FEED Contract

Thyssenkrupp Nucera electrolysis project development continues to gain momentum as the German electrolysis technology leader has been selected to carry out front-end engineering design (FEED) services for a major 600-MW green hydrogen plant in Europe.

The unnamed project, serving hard-to-abate industrial sectors, represents another milestone for Thyssenkrupp Nucera’s growing portfolio of large-scale hydrogen initiatives. The company aims to secure an engineering, procurement, and fabrication (EFP) agreement in the project’s next phase, following a final investment decision expected in 2026.

This will be the third large-scale green hydrogen project in the region to integrate Thyssenkrupp Nucera’s water electrolysis technology. It underscores the company’s role in helping decarbonize heavy industries and scale Europe’s hydrogen economy.

“Large-scale projects like this show industry’s central role in accelerating the hydrogen transition and prove that the European business case is viable under the right conditions,” said Werner Ponikwar, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Nucera.

The company is also involved in two other high-profile hydrogen ventures in the Nordic region: Shell’s 200-MW plant in Rotterdam and Stegra’s green steel project in Boden, Sweden.
