YPF’s Vaca Muerta Sur project is getting ready for contruction the first pipelines Río Negro territory , are arriving marking a key milestone in the construction of the pipeline . This first section of the project is 128 kilometers long and extends from the Loma Campana area to Allen .
Its objective is to increase unconventional oil production and strengthen Argentina’s energy export capacity.
The deployment of pipelines in the first kilometers of Rio Negro soil symbolizes a decisive advance in the materialization of the project, which in its entirety will allow the transportation of up to 390 thousand barrels of crude oil per day to refineries and export ports .
The impact of the pipeline
The planned investment in this initial stage is approximately 190 million dollars and will generate 500 jobs at the peak of construction , contributing to local economic development.
It is worth adding that Punta Colorada, where the export terminal will be located, has natural characteristics that position it as a world-class export point for crude oil from the Neuquén Basin. Thanks to its distinctive conditions, the terminal will be suitable for large oil tankers known as VLCCs, opening access to more competitive markets at an international level .
This new complex will provide a comprehensive transport, storage and export solution with high levels of availability throughout the year, diversifying the departure points with its new onshore and offshore terminal, linked to the current system in Allen.
The project, which is already in full execution, continues to advance towards its second stage, which will include the connection to Sierra Grande and the construction of the export terminal, which will further boost productive and economic activity in the region. This section will be 437 kilometers long and once completed, it will allow the export of 135 million barrels of oil per year , positioning Argentina as one of the main crude oil exporters in the region.
Train staff
It should be remembered that Río Negro is moving forward in the restructuring of training for young people , adjusting education to the specific demands of the LNG plant and Vaca Muerta Sur oil pipeline projects.
In this context, the Secretary of Energy and Environment, Andrea Confini , highlighted the commitment of the provincial government to training and adapting training profiles to the needs of emerging industrial sectors.
“We have been working for over a year, together with the Argentine Institute of Petroleum and Gas (IAPG), the Ministry of Education and operating companies, on modifying the curriculum of secondary schools . This is essential to ensure that future graduates have the skills and competencies that the industry demands,” he explained.
In this regard, Río Negro has begun to implement a series of reforms in six key technical schools , located in Alto Valle, Sierra Grande and San Antonio. These institutions will begin to offer technical training specifically oriented to the energy industry starting next year.
“We are moving forward with four schools in Alto Valle, one in Sierra Grande and one in San Antonio, to soon implement curricula adapted to the demands of the sector,” said the official.
Technical training in areas such as oil production, industrial infrastructure management and renewable energy development are positioned as fundamental pillars for the future employment of young people from Río Negro. The objective is to train a new generation of specialists who can contribute directly to the energy growth of the province and the country.
