Technip Energies and JGC Corporation have secured the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract from ExxonMobil, on behalf of Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV), a joint venture with Eni and CNPC, for the Rovuma LNG project in Palma, Afungi Peninsula, Mozambique.
The Rovuma LNG project will feature an LNG plant with a total capacity of 18 Mtpa, consisting of 12 modularized LNG trains, each producing 1.5 Mtpa. Notably, the plant will use electric-driven LNG trains instead of traditional gas turbines, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The modular, prefabricated design will streamline assembly on-site, ensuring cost efficiency and schedule reliability.
Mario Tommaselli, SVP of Gas and Low Carbon Energies at Technip Energies, expressed pride in being selected to design the project, emphasizing the company’s commitment to supporting Mozambique’s growth and its ambitions in becoming a leading LNG exporter in Africa.
Farhan Mujib, President of JGC, highlighted the importance of the project in promoting energy transition and contributing to economic and industrial growth in Mozambique and East Africa, aligning with global decarbonization goals.
