Tajikistan intends to draw upon Kazakhstan’s knowledge in renewable energy projects, as reported by Azernews. Sharifa Khudobakhsh, Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, highlighted this during the second meeting of the Permanent Commission on Cooperation between the parliaments of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
“We will leverage Kazakhstan’s extensive experience, along with that of neighboring countries, in building solar and wind power plants. Tajikistan is enhancing collaboration with regional partners to implement ‘green’ energy initiatives,” stated Khudobakhsh.
She also emphasized Kazakhstan’s role as a dependable partner in Tajikistan’s liquefied gas exports.
President Emomali Rahmon has outlined plans to transition Tajikistan into a “green country” by 2037. Currently, over 98% of Tajikistan’s electricity is sourced from hydropower resources within the country. Starting April 2024, the use of solar panels will be mandatory in new construction and renovation projects across Tajikistan.
