Suzano is expected to soon announce the construction of a fertilizer factory in Aracruz, Espírito Santo, next to its cellulose plants, according to Abdo Filho’s column in “A Gazeta”. The company would be advancing negotiations with a fertilizer manufacturer that will be its partner in the business.
The investment should cost R$60 million and generate 300 jobs in construction and 150 in factory operation. Suzano’s official announcement should take place soon.
The new fertilizer production factory should meet the demands of Suzano’s plantations in the states of Minas Gerais, Bahia and Espírito Santo and whatever is left will be sold.
According to the news outlet, the new factory will receive inputs through the Portocel terminal, the port of Suzano and Cenibra in Aracruz, and the terminal has already requested Iema to change its operating license in order to receive the products in bulk. .
Suzano reportedly decided to build the new venture after concluding that it is cheaper to produce the fertilizer used in its eucalyptus plantations than to purchase the product from other companies. The selection of ES to house the new factory would be linked to the favorable business environment and available logistics – port, railway and highways.
