Subsea 7 Wins $300m Contract on Chevron’s Gorgon Stage 3 Project

Subsea 7 has secured a major new offshore contract in Australia after being awarded work on Chevron’s Gorgon Stage 3 (GS3) project, marking a significant win for the European subsea contractor.

The company will deliver the procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of ultra-deepwater subsea production equipment, operating at water depths of around 1,350 metres. The contract value is estimated at up to $300 million, with offshore activities expected to take place in 2028.

Chevron’s Gorgon Stage 3 project will connect the Geryon and Eurytion satellite gas fields in the Greater Gorgon area to existing processing infrastructure and the Gorgon liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Western Australia, extending the life and output of one of Australia’s most important gas developments.

David Bertin, Senior Vice President for Subsea 7’s Global Projects Centre East, said the award reinforces the company’s long-standing relationship with Chevron and highlights its capability to execute complex deepwater projects. He described the contract as an important milestone in Subsea 7’s regional growth strategy.

Chevron and its partners recently took a final investment decision on the $2 billion GS3 development, which is aimed at sustaining LNG production through the use of new offshore tie-backs. TechnipFMC has also been selected to supply the subsea production system for the project.

The award further strengthens Subsea 7’s position in the Australian offshore market, as operators continue to invest in subsea infrastructure to maximise existing LNG assets and improve long-term energy supply security.
