Southern Water has awarded £540 million in contracts to three companies to enhance its wastewater network performance across the South East region. The agreements, spanning four key workstreams, are part of the utility’s strategic preparations for the 2025-2030 industry spending period (AMP8).
The contracts are divided into four lots:
- Lanes Group will manage maintenance and manhole services.
- Cappagh Browne will oversee sewer rehabilitation projects.
- McAllister Bros will handle sewer sealing.
These partnerships aim to deliver vital sewer services, including emergency responses and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure, while improving environmental outcomes and customer experience.
Alex Saunders, Head of Wastewater Networks at Southern Water, commented:
“We are delighted to have secured partnerships with industry-leading suppliers who are experts in their respective technical disciplines. These agreements prepare Southern Water to meet the service levels expected by our customers and will help us to deliver on our environmental improvement ambitions for years to come.”
The contracts will commence in April 2025, covering the entirety of AMP8, with options for extensions, ensuring long-term infrastructure improvement and reliability.
