Hyundai and Samsung among eight partners collaborating on the pioneering 10MW pilot project
South Korea is set to establish its first nuclear hydrogen production plant by 2027, following the signing of a cooperation agreement today (Wednesday) involving several of the nation’s leading corporations. The 10MW pilot project, announced today, is slated to be succeeded by a larger-capacity commercial plant.
Among the eight companies committing to this groundbreaking initiative are Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Samsung C&T, Doosan Energy, and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP). This ambitious project will benefit from 29 billion won ($21 million) in government funding provided by the Ministry of Energy, Trade, and Industry.
The consortium’s collaboration underscores a significant step forward in South Korea’s efforts to leverage nuclear energy for hydrogen production, positioning the country as a leader in innovative energy solutions and sustainable technology.
