South Africa’s NPC kicks-off Simuma expansion project

Natal Portland Cement (NPC) held a ground-breaking ceremony for the kiln line expansion in Simuma, in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. NPC became a subsidiary of China’s Huaxin Cement, after taking over the assets from Intercement (we reported here 28.12.2023).

The kiln expansion will increase the clinker capacity of the Simuma plant from 1500 to 4000 tpd and shall be completed in Feb. 2024. The managements of NPC and Huaxin are confident that there is a market demand in the NorthEast of South Africa. In Natal, NPC also operates a cement grinding station and a slag grinding unit, which might be capacity-adjusted.
