Kinetics, a division of floating power solutions provider Karpowership, has awarded Seatrium a new contract to convert an LNG carrier into a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), to be named LNGT Türkiye.
This latest award stems from an agreement reached in April 2024, when Kinetics contracted Seatrium for the conversion of three LNG carriers into FSRUs, with an option for additional units. The newly announced project exercises that option.
Work on the LNGT Türkiye conversion will commence shortly and will include the installation of a regasification module, spread-mooring system, and the integration of supporting cargo handling, offloading, utility, electrical, and automation systems.
Seatrium has already delivered four FSRU conversions to Kinetics: Karmol LNGT Powership Africa, Asia, Europe, and most recently, Antarctica, which was completed last month.
Additionally, two more FSRU conversions for Kinetics are currently underway in Singapore, with deliveries expected later this year and in early 2026.
With this new contract, Seatrium brings its total number of FSRU/FSU conversions to 21 since 2007, reinforcing its position as a global leader in floating LNG infrastructure.
Seatrium’s Recent Offshore Developments
In parallel with its FSRU work, Seatrium continues to expand its offshore capabilities:
-
Last month, the company signed a Letter of Intent with Solvang ASA to install and retrofit full-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) systems, supporting Solvang’s fleet decarbonization strategy.
-
Also in June, ABB announced it will supply electrical and automation systems to Seatrium for two new FPSOs under construction for Petrobras. The P-84 and P-85 platforms—each with a capacity of 225,000 barrels per day—will operate in Brazil’s pre-salt Santos Basin, about 200 km offshore from Rio de Janeiro, at the Atapu and Sépia fields.
