Saudi Energy Firms to Develop Syrian Oil and Gas Fields

Four Saudi companies — TAQA, ADES Holding, Arabian Drilling, and the Arabian Geophysical and Surveying Company (ARGAS) — have signed agreements with the Syrian Petroleum Company covering services, technical support, and the development of oil and gas fields in Syria.

These agreements build on the ongoing cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Syrian Arab Republic in the energy sector, following the memoranda of understanding signed on 28 August 2025, and subsequent technical workshops and field visits to Syrian gas fields and related facilities.

The agreements signed include:

  • ADES Holding and the Syrian Petroleum Company signed an agreement outlining principles for the development, operation, and production of multiple gas fields. The deal sets the foundation for a final technical services contract covering five fields — Abu Rabah, Qamqam, North Al-Faydh, Al-Tiyas, and Zumlat al-Mahar — with potential expansion to additional areas later. The aim is to increase gas production across these fields.

  • TAQA signed a master service agreement to provide advanced integrated solutions for constructing and maintaining oil and gas fields and wells in Syria. The partnership focuses on improving operational efficiency and boosting production using modern technologies and equipment.

  • ARGAS signed a master service agreement to deliver 2D and 3D seismic surveying and related technical services to support exploration and drilling operations. This long-term cooperation aims to strengthen Syria’s petroleum exploration activities by enabling rapid response, operational flexibility, and streamlined project execution.

  • Arabian Drilling Company signed an agreement to provide drilling and workover services for oil and gas wells, including the leasing and operation of onshore rigs. The company will supply rigs, conduct workover operations, provide technical support, and offer training and development for the local workforce.
