Saudi Arabia, US to sign deal in mining, mineral resources

Saudi Arabia is preparing to hold high-level discussions and formalize an agreement with the United States focused on cooperation in the fields of Saudi Arabia mining and minerals  resources, the Saudi Cabinet announced in a statement released via the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday.

The proposed agreement is expected to strengthen bilateral collaboration on critical minerals essential to energy transition technologies, such as lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements. It aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to diversify its economy and develop a globally competitive mining sector, while also supporting the U.S. strategy to secure reliable, non-Chinese sources of critical minerals.

Officials from both nations are expected to explore joint ventures, knowledge exchange, sustainable mining practices, and potential investments in mineral exploration, processing, and supply chain integration.

Further details, including the scope of the agreement and specific projects under discussion, are anticipated to be released following the conclusion of the talks.
