Brazilian state-owned oil and gas giant Petrobrasclosed contracts worth a total of US$1.8 billionwith Malaysian company Sapura Energy to build six multipurpose pipe-laying support vessels (PLSVs), according to the Offshore Energy website.
The contracts have a duration of three years, starting on different mobilization dates, with the longest contract valid until 2028. Sapura Energy expects these contracts to contribute positively to its profits in the financial year ending January 31, 2025 and in the next years.
These Petrobras contracts represent a significant milestone for Sapura Energy , especially after it was recently selected to provide underwater services for the Petronas group of companies and petroleum arrangement contractors . In particular, Sapura Subsea Services was awarded a contract to provide Pan Malaysia underwater services to Sarawak Shell and Sabah Shell Petroleum Company, as well as to PTTEP Sabah Oil Limited for Package B1 – Sabah (Deepwater) and PTTEP Sarawak Oil Limited for Package C1 – Sarawak. his series of Petrobras contracts highlights Sapura Energy’s prominent position in the subsea services market and reinforces its global presence as one of the main companies in the sector.
