Romanian Investors Show Interest in Egypt’s Oil and Gas Sector

Three Romanian companies are preparing to enter Egypt’s oil and gas industry, aiming to capitalize on investment opportunities offered by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) for crude oil and natural gas exploration.

Ahmed El Sokkary, Chairman of the Egyptian-Romanian Business Council, told Al Borsa newspaper that several Romanian firms have been engaging with the General Authority for Investment for months to establish projects in the gas sector, with “Deimos” being one of the most prominent names.

He added that these companies are expected to formally submit their applications to government authorities within the coming weeks.

El Sokkary also highlighted the council’s success in attracting multiple Romanian firms to the Egyptian market. One notable example is “CIS Gas,” which has leveraged Egypt’s industry incentives to strengthen its presence, aligning with the country’s goal of becoming a regional hub for natural gas trade and distribution.
