Renergen Names Preferred EPC Contractor for Phase 2

Renergen has announced the appointment of the He4u consortium as the preferred bidder for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for Phase 2 of its Tetra4 LNG and helium liquefaction project. The consortium comprises Chart Industries Inc., Wilson Bayly Holmes–Ovcon Ltd (WBHO), and Aurex Constructors.

The award covers the full scope of design, procurement, delivery, construction, and commissioning of the second phase of the Virginia Gas Project in South Africa. This selection marks a critical milestone, satisfying one of the final two conditions required for the DFC Phase 2 loan approval.

As part of the contract, Chart Industries’ helium and LNG liquefaction technologies have been chosen as the preferred technical solution for the project. The partnership also includes strong local construction and fabrication participation from Aurex and WBHO, both of which bring extensive experience in executing large-scale infrastructure projects in South Africa.

“Chart Industries is pleased to have been selected by Renergen as the technology partner for Tetra4’s helium and LNG liquefaction requirements. We look forward to providing our world-class technologies and engineering solutions at scale as the project moves toward implementation,” said Jillian Evanko, CEO of Chart Industries Inc.

“We are excited to have such an experienced and technically strong team executing our Phase 2 project on a turnkey basis,” said Stefano Marani, CEO of Renergen.
“When combined with Worley, our appointed Owner’s Engineer, this consortium significantly reduces execution risk. This award represents a major milestone—and one of the last steps—before construction of Phase 2 begins.”

The Virginia Gas Project is a globally unique resource combining liquid helium and liquefied natural gas (LNG) production, positioning South Africa as a strategic player in the future energy and medical gas markets.
