Praj Industries Bio-Refinery Project Set for Launch in Paraguay

Enersur S.A. has selected Praj Industries to lead its next major renewable energy venture in Paraguay. The collaboration centers around the development of a comprehensive bio-refinery that will not only produce ethanol but also valuable co-products such as distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS), corn oil, biogas, biobitumen, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

This initiative builds on a recent contract awarded to Praj for designing and commissioning a 600 m³/day anhydrous ethanol plant in Canindeyú, Paraguay. Powered by corn feedstock, this facility is a key milestone in Paraguay’s move toward clean energy independence and rural economic development.

Praj’s involvement spans process technology licensing, full-scale design and engineering, supply of core process equipment, and on-site supervisory support. The ethanol plant is projected to be fully operational by October 2026.

The bio-refinery project strengthens Paraguay’s efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels while generating sustainable value from agricultural resources.
