Pioneering Spirit wins Equinor Troll field pipelay contract for Allseas

Swiss-based marine construction specialist Allseas has secured a contract to install pipelines and integrated structures for the second stage of Equinor’s Troll Phase 3 project.

The Troll Phase 3 project aims to accelerate production and sustain the high production capacity of the Troll A Platform and the Kollsnes onshore plant through 2030.

This development phase will facilitate gas production from the Troll West field via subsea tiebacks to the original Troll A platform, located approximately 80 kilometers northwest of Bergen, Norway.

In the second stage, Allseas will install a 28-kilometer, 36-inch concrete-weight-coated gas pipeline parallel to the Stage 1 pipeline, which was installed by Allseas’ pipelay vessel Solitaire in 2020. The new pipeline will feature three inline tees, allowing for future tie-in flexibility.

The latest Troll contract includes the fabrication and assembly of multiple pipeline heads and inline tees, installation and retrieval of counteracts, and the flooding, cleaning, and gauging of the pipeline system. The project execution is scheduled for 2026 using the giant construction vessel Pioneering Spirit.
