Petrofac Emirates has been awarded a US$330 million Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract by ADNOC Gas for the development of a new gas compressor plant at the Habshan Complex in Abu Dhabi.
This marks Petrofac’s third EPC contract at the Habshan Complex, a key site for one of the world’s largest gas processing facilities. The project scope includes the installation of two gas compressor trains, utilities, and power systems, aimed at enhancing gas output to support ADNOC’s Ruwais LNG project. Completion is targeted for 2028.
Elie Lahoud, Chief Operating Officer of Petrofac’s Engineering & Construction division, commented:
“The expansion of our role at the Habshan Complex reflects our long-standing partnership with ADNOC and the expertise of our team. We are committed to delivering this project safely and efficiently while contributing to the local workforce and supply chain.”
Petrofac has operated in the UAE since 1991, with a significant presence in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The company has built a robust regional workforce and actively supports Emiratisation and In-Country Value initiatives. In 2023, Petrofac secured two major projects at the Habshan Complex, including the Estidama Gas Compressor Plant and a Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage project, with a combined value exceeding $1.3 billion. These projects resulted in the recruitment of over 120 UAE nationals.
The new gas compressor plant further cements Petrofac’s integral role in ADNOC’s gas development strategy, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and regional economic growth.
