Saudi Arabia’s Petro Rabigh has approved the start of engineering works for its fuel oil upgrade project, which aims to enhance refining efficiency and product value.
The company said it is in the process of awarding the engineering contract to a specialised firm that will carry out detailed technical studies and identify the most effective implementation methods.
The project includes the establishment of two integrated units for fuel oil upgrading and diesel treatment, along with related support facilities, with a total processing capacity of about 64,000 barrels per day.
Petro Rabigh noted that further details will be disclosed after the engineering phase concludes and a final investment decision is made.
In 2019, the company awarded a SAR 300 million ($79.9 million) contract to Jacobs Engineering Group for engineering design and project management services related to the same project.
