Perenti Burkina Faso operations are set to expand following a major underground mining contract award worth A$1.1 billion (US$707 million). The deal, signed with SEMAFO Burkina Faso, a subsidiary of Endeavour Mining, will cover underground mining activities at the Siou and Wona zones of the Mana gold complex.
The five-year agreement, starting on 1 June 2025, will be executed by Perenti’s joint venture subsidiary, Underground Mining Services Burkina Faso SARL (UMS). The scope includes underground development, production, and associated mining services.
Located in the gold-rich Houndé Greenstone Belt, the Mana complex is home to high-grade gold deposits. UMS has been delivering services at Mana since 2018, and this new contract solidifies its role in one of West Africa’s key gold operations.
Perenti CEO Mark Norwell emphasized the long-term value of the deal:
“This contract is consistent with our FY25 guidance and will deliver strong contributions through FY26 and beyond. It reflects our team’s commitment to exceptional performance.”
Gabrielle Iwanow, President of Contract Mining at Perenti, added:
“This expanded contract demonstrates our strong partnership with Endeavour and our dedication to building local capabilities and sustainable communities in Burkina Faso.”
Perenti is also advancing its sustainability efforts through a memorandum of understanding with Sandvik. The collaboration aims to develop diesel-electric underground mining equipment, improving efficiency and environmental impact through Perenti’s Barminco unit.
