PepsiCo Foods Vietnam Launches $90 Million Plant Construction

PepsiCo Foods Vietnam has officially launched the construction of its new snack manufacturing plant in Ha Nam province on August 3, 2024, marking the company’s 30th anniversary in the country. Spanning 8 hectares, the facility will play a pivotal role in PepsiCo’s operations in Vietnam, boasting an annual production capacity of over 20,000 tonnes of snacks.

The new plant is a key part of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam’s strategic expansion to address growing consumer demand and reinforce its market presence. This development is expected to make a significant contribution to the local economy and community.

Nguyen Viet Ha, General Manager of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam, stated, “This investment reflects our confidence in Vietnam’s dynamic economy and its people. As we celebrate 30 years in the country, we are not only building a factory but also reinforcing our commitment to sustainable growth, community development, and innovation.”

The Ha Nam plant will embody PepsiCo’s commitment to sustainability by utilizing biomass and solar power to reduce its environmental footprint. Features will include rooftop solar panels and biomass systems that convert local agricultural waste into electricity.

The facility is projected to create over 1,000 jobs, spanning manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and agriculture, and is expected to spur local economic growth. Additionally, PepsiCo Foods Vietnam will launch a comprehensive training program in partnership with the Ha Nam Department of Labour, Invalids & Social Affairs to develop essential soft skills among local youth, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and digital literacy.

PepsiCo Foods Vietnam is also collaborating with the Ha Nam Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as local cooperatives and farmers, to implement regenerative agricultural practices aimed at improving soil health, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing crop yields.

Truong Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Ha Nam People’s Committee, expressed support for the project, highlighting its role in advancing the province’s goal of becoming a modern industrial hub by 2025. “The new factory will help Ha Nam achieve its vision of becoming a modern, industrial province. We are committed to supporting PepsiCo in making this project a success and enhancing the region’s economic and agricultural development.”

Huy further noted, “Our vision for this plant extends beyond its production capacity. It is about fostering a sustainable ecosystem that benefits consumers, partners, and the environment, while cultivating a community grounded in shared values and sustainability leadership.”
