Over $2 Billion Middle East Expansion Project Attracts Five Leading EPC Bidders

Multiple international contractors have submitted technical bids to QatarEnergy for a major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract—valued at over $2 billion—for the fifth phase of its Natural Gas Liquids (NGL-5) project.

As part of its broader strategy to enhance and maintain output from the massive North Field, Qatar is investing heavily in both upstream expansion and downstream infrastructure, including the continued development of its NGL processing capabilities in Mesaieed Industrial City.

Currently, the four existing NGL plants at Mesaieed produce propane, butane, and condensate, primarily for export. The proposed NGL-5 facility aims to significantly increase processing capacity, supporting QatarEnergy’s long-term vision to solidify the nation’s position as a global energy leader.
