Orascom Construction PLC, in partnership with Técnicas Reunidas, has been awarded a significant Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to develop the Qurayyah Independent Power Plant (IPP) Expansion Project in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. This large-scale 3 GW combined cycle gas-fired power plant will be equipped with carbon capture readiness and feature a 380 kV electrical substation.
The EPC contract was signed with Hajr Two Electricity Company, a consortium including ACWA Power, Saudi Electricity Company, and Haji Abdullah Alireza & Co. Ltd. This project strengthens Orascom Construction’s position as a key player in the regional power sector. The company has successfully delivered and is currently working on power projects across the Middle East and Africa with a total generation capacity surpassing 30 GW. Among its notable achievements are two 4.8 GW combined cycle gas-fired power plants in Egypt.

It allows us to leverage our expertise to deliver high-quality infrastructure while maximizing value. Following our success in Egypt’s power sector, we are excited to bring our capabilities to Saudi Arabia. We also look forward to further strengthening our partnership with Técnicas Reunidas on this major development.”
