Yesterday, OQ, Oman’s integrated energy group, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of the Sultanate, commenced work on the Strategic Fuel Reserve project in the Dhofar Governorate.
According to posts on OQ’s social media accounts, the project will cover an area of 150,000 square meters. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing energy security, ensuring a reliable fuel supply for up to one month during emergencies, with an additional month’s reserves available. The details were shared on platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, with a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) explaining the project’s scope.
The project will include a tank farm capable of storing up to 110,000 cubic meters of MOGAS-91 and 95, gas oil, and jet fuel. The project is expected to be completed by April 2027.
