“The giant multi-layered Mumbai High field, which commenced production 48 years ago in 1976, is currently in its mature production phase and ONGC has implemented a number of programs in the field to enhance production,” it said.
“As the owner and operator of the Mumbai High field, ONGC is interested in partnering with a global technical service provider. The service provider would be contracted for a period of 10 years, extendable for another five years.”
The Mumbai High field is located 160 kilometers off the coast of Mumbai and accounts for about 38 percent of India’s oil production.
From a peak of 40,000 barrels per day in 1989, the field now produces 134,000 bpd and about 10 million standard cubic meters of gas per day.
The field is estimated to have remaining reserves of 80 million tons (610 million barrels) of oil and over 40 billion cubic meters of gas.
The service provider would provide technical solutions to increase production. It will be paid a fixed fee and a biddable share of the revenues generated by the incremental production above an agreed baseline.
“Mumbai High is one of ONGC’s premier assets and there is significant upside to be unlocked here if ONGC deploys best-in-class reservoir management technologies and adopts global best operating and management practices,” the company said, adding that bids are due by mid-September.
The selected service provider would conduct a comprehensive review of field performance and identify improvements in wells, reservoirs, including water injection, and asset management.
