Project to Enhance Hazardous Waste Management and Support Oman Vision 2040
Muscat: Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) has signed a financing agreement with Ahli Islamic Bank to fund the second phase of the industrial waste treatment facility in the Sohar Freezone. The deal, valued at OMR 51 million ($132.47 million), will support the development of specialized infrastructure for hazardous waste treatment.
The project includes advanced physical and chemical treatment technologies, modern facilities for managing used oils and highly toxic waste, as well as smart storage tanks to ensure efficient operations.
Once fully completed, the integrated facility is expected to drive economic growth, promote sustainability, and align with Oman Vision 2040. It will support the establishment of both heavy and light industrial projects, create job opportunities, and enhance in-country value (ICV) by tapping into the potential of waste resources.
Upon the completion of its second phase, the Sohar Freezone facility will mark a significant advancement in Oman’s waste management sector, setting new standards for industrial waste treatment across the Sultanate.
