NovaAlgoma Orders World’s Largest Cement Carrier

A Chinese shipyard has been commissioned to build the world’s largest cement carrier. NovaAlgoma, a joint venture between Italian-Swiss group Nova Marine Carriers and Canada’s Algoma Central Corporation, has ordered a 38,000 dwt vessel from Zhejiang Xinle Shipbuilding in Ningbo. The ship will feature methanol dual-fuel capabilities.

Additional technologies on the vessel, set for delivery at the end of 2026, include a cold ironing system and an air lubricating system. The price of the ship has not been disclosed.
