NMDC Awarded $200 Million Deal for ADNOC’s Ruwais LNG Project

NMDC Group Secures Over $200 Million Contract for Critical Dredging in ADNOC’s Ruwais LNG Project

NMDC Group has recently secured a significant contract exceeding $200 million from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) for crucial marine dredging work on the Ruwais LNG Project.

This project stands out as it will be the first LNG export facility in the Middle East and Africa to operate using clean energy, setting a new benchmark for sustainable energy production in the region.

The dredging operation will involve the removal of approximately 15 million cubic meters of material from a 5-kilometer-long channel, with a width of 245 meters. This work is essential to ensure safe navigation and access for vessels to the new LNG facility.

Located in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi, the Ruwais LNG Project will feature two natural gas liquefaction trains with a combined production capacity of 9.6 million metric tons per year. A key highlight of this facility is its integration of renewable energy-powered electric motors, positioning it as one of the lowest-carbon LNG plants globally.

Yasser Zaghloul, CEO of NMDC Group, emphasized that this contract win underscores the company’s expertise in executing large-scale and complex marine projects. He also noted that the project aligns with NMDC’s strong commitment to sustainability, a fundamental value of the company.

Zaghloul further highlighted that this contract reinforces NMDC’s long-standing partnership with ADNOC and demonstrates their dedication to supporting the advancement of the UAE’s energy sector. He assured that the project would be executed with the utmost attention to safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.

Niels de Bruijn, CEO of NMDC Dredging & Marine, expressed pride in being selected for this critical dredging work. He highlighted the team’s experience and advanced technological capabilities, which will be pivotal in ensuring the project’s successful completion. De Bruijn also underscored that this project contributes to the UAE’s vision of becoming a global leader in low-carbon LNG production.

Earlier this year, NMDC Energy, a subsidiary of NMDC Group, along with Technip Energies, was awarded a $5.5 billion contract by ADNOC for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the LNG Growth Project.
