NEOM, the visionary sustainable region emerging in northwest Saudi Arabia, has partnered with DataVolt, a leading Saudi-based global data center developer and operator, in a groundbreaking $5 billion investment agreement. This collaboration marks a crucial step toward advancing Saudi Arabia’s ambition of building a data-driven, sustainable economy.
The project will be developed in phases, with the first stage—backed by an initial $5 billion investment—set to become operational by 2028. In line with Oxagon’s objectives, the 1.5-gigawatt facility will feature a mix of high-performance computing systems and energy-efficient designs to tackle the growing challenges of conventional data centers.
Under the agreement, Oxagon will lease land to DataVolt for the construction of the facility and provide essential infrastructure support. The goal is to power the entire data center using renewable energy, creating a fully integrated, sustainable solution. Advanced cooling technologies will be implemented, ensuring net-zero operations while addressing global concerns related to power consumption and carbon emissions.
Strategically positioned on the Red Sea coast, Oxagon offers direct access to subsea fiber-optic cables, cost-efficient renewable energy, green hydrogen, and a rapidly expanding industrial hub—making it an ideal location for DataVolt’s large-scale, eco-friendly AI factory.
